The Mission
Monday, August 2, 2010 at 11:02AM As a non-profit housing organization, we are not driven by personal interests…we are driven by our mission. I heard a quote over the weekend that rang true to the mission at Housing Our Communities. The quote was “the purpose of life is a life of purpose”. For those of us that work or volunteer for HOC, this is true every day. Every 3 days a new homeowner receives the keys to their first home; a client sheds a tear in counseling with their housing counselor when overcoming an obstacle; when someone steps foot in our office for the first time and is handed a housing resource list that could change their life forever. These are the moments that HOC celebrates; these are the moments in our organization that drive the mission of strengthening families, neighborhoods, and communities. Everyone deserves safe, decent affordable housing – the mission drives us.
