History
Since 1988, Housing Our Communities, Inc. (HOC) has been helping underserved and underrepresented families and individuals achieve their dream of affordable, quality, and sustainable homeownership in Arizona. HOC is a nonprofit Community Development Housing Organization (CHDO) and a HUD-certified housing counseling agency. Through a continuum of HOC homebuyer and housing services, HOC helps develop the capacity of households to achieve and maintain homeownership in Arizona. The majority of clients served are low- to moderate-income first-time homebuyers and homebuyers seeking a second-chance at homeownership after experiencing foreclosures. HOC is a state-wide organization with an emphasis on Maricopa County; cities currently being served are Avondale, Chandler, Mesa, Peoria, and Phoenix.
Accomplishments
HOC is the oldest nonprofit developer of affordable housing in the eastern portion of Maricopa County. They are formally recognized at the local, state, and national levels as an outstanding provider of housing services and an integral partner in community development. In addition to local accomplishments in Arizona, HOC also created another non-profit housing organization in Las Vegas, Nevada called Housing For Nevada (HFN) in 2002. HFN is currently serving Clark County, City of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and the City of Henderson.
